Our client is part of a large logistics group and a leading provider of transport and logistics solutions and services within the Arabian Gulf and throughout The Middle East. In addition to general cargo haulage services they operate storage and consolidation services and they specialize in moving land based drilling rigs across sites and international boundaries.
They are seeking a Contract General Manager to manage a major customer account. The position is based in Salalah, Oman.
Reporting into the Group General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for
for the running and development of a major customer account as well as responsibility for developing other third party work.
You would have your own team of staff and equipment but would also work closely with colleagues to provide ad-hoc support to other customers.
You will take control of the account, introduce and enforce policies and procedures and build lasting and trusting relationships with the customer.
Finally you will be based in Salalah, Oman but the primary work location will be out in the desert.

Knowledge and Skills:
You will need to be an accomplished logistics professional / Contract Manager ideally with some of your experience gained in the GCC, giving exposure to business development, quality systems and procedures and budgetary control.
Your work experience should ideally be supported by a qualification in either a logistics or operational doctrine.
You should be experienced in change management, and excellent inter-personal skills are essential as is an innovative and analytical approach.
Above all you must have the natural ability and courage to drive change, maintain morale and deliver results. A military background would be very useful.
You should have operational experience of managing a logistics operation and you must be able to generate revenue and profits through personal involvement with the client.
Our client is open minded about your sector experience but experience in the oil and gas sector and exposure to the construction sector is highly desirable - EPC projects etc.
You will have strong competencies in entrepreneurial leadership, commercial astuteness and in developing and maintaining customer relationships based on service excellence.
Candidates for the position will also need to demonstrate the ability to organise and efficiently manage a logistics operation supported by strong commercial acumen and excellent knowledge of budgets and financial planning.
You will be able to show that you fully understand the importance of the relationship between sales success and quality of service delivery.
You should have excellent organisational, presentational and negotiating skills and able to work closely with colleagues.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC literate particularly in spreadsheets. |
