Specialist Domestic Violence and Abuse Worker - fixed base and floating support HICAP - Housing & Isolated Communities Advocacy Project Part time hours available covering the Test Valley area (up to 24 per week) £21,250pro rata To start as soon as possible, closing date is the 4th February We are a provider of Support, Care and Advice Services. We work alongside people to gain the tools and resources they need to live independent, secure and valued lives. We are expanding this project and therefore offer an amazing temporary opportunity for highly motivated and innovative people to join our Domestic Violence and Abuse Service to deliver a this exciting and innovative service within the communities of Hampshire. Following a successful national grant bid we have developed a project providing specialist targeted support to individuals and families with diverse and complex needs and those from isolated and marginalised communities. The successful post holder will be part of a team who achieve effective move on from accommodation based services and support people where traditional refuge accommodation is not suitable to find alternative accommodation Working directly with refuge staff, management, community based domestic abuse services and housing you will increase expertise across these teams and are crucial to raising standards, create pathways and support and strengthen networks. You will be part of a team working across Hampshire and will be working within an allocated area, however, there may be times when you will be required to work across the county and attend meetings, supervisions etc at other locations. As a SHIP DVA worker you may be co-located with other organisations across the county to assist the identification and engagement of isolated and marginalised communities. Due to the nature of the work being a car driver with a car for work is essential for this post. We are looking for a person who will:- • work and support the You First team to deliver the service in line with the service specification, KPIs and the organization processes, policies and procedures • be innovative in my practice and ensure I offer a safe service for those engaged with the project • provide 1:1 support to enable the client to understand the impact of DVA • monitor, review and reassess safety plans and support plans ensuring interventions are appropriate for level of risk and share this information with colleagues • advocate on behalf of clients in a professional and respectful manner, encouraging and enabling clients to have their own voice and develop self resilience • work with and provide specialist advice to colleagues across the county to identify and support victims of domestic abuse who are living in isolated communities • work with and provide specialist advice to colleagues across the county to identify and support victims of domestic abuse where additional or complex needs may stop people accessing a service • develop relationships with private sector landlords and specialist providers to identify and secure safe accommodation • be flexible in their working areas and provide support for all local authority areas of Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton • will write reports and present outcomes of this project when directed and required to do so Do you have:- • Qualification or equivalent to NVQ level 4 or equivalent work level experience • Experience supporting women, men and children on 1:1 or group work basis • Knowledge of Homelessness legislation and prevention and Housing Law • Knowledge of diversity and inclusion • Knowledge of housing and welfare benefits including no recourse to public funds • Knowledge of local resources and agencies which benefit clients and their children • Understand the impact of domestic violence and abuse on older adults and carers Our Benefits If you choose to begin a career with our organisation, you are guaranteed: • Competitive rates of pay and paid travel time. • Enhanced annual leave entitlements, sick pay allowances and pension scheme contributions. • Excellent and professionally certified training. • Real opportunities to develop in your profession. • Free health and wellbeing advice via a 24/7, confidential Employee Assistance Programme. • Everything you need to carry out your role free of charge, which may include a mobile phone, safety equipment and other necessary technology, a uniform where applicable, and of course a nice cup of tea or coffee throughout your day! • A company that is committed to its employees, valuing their knowledge, creativity and flexibility. • The chance to work with amazing people.
