Project Manager Hours: Full Time Monday to Friday – Stockport Salary: £40-£45k Summary The organization aims to add two new Imaging Centres to the three currently in progress and wishes to recruit an experienced individual to project manage the development of these new centres. Reporting to the Senior (Imaging) Project Manager. The post holder will have responsibility for the identification, fit-out, commissioning and “handover” of two new imaging centres, including a period of post- “go-live” hypercare. In addition, during the development of the 2 new sites, the post-holder will be expected to work closely with (and provide support to) the Senior (Imaging) Project Manager and the Imaging Teams at the existing Imaging Centres with a view to ensuring that the performance of the existing centres is not negatively impacted by the addition of the new sites. The post-holder will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels as well as consulting with a range of specialists to ensure achievement of the project. The role will suit an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with proven project management experience who is comfortable working across the full project lifecycle, familiar with working within ISO9001 / 27001 quality systems and able to work across multiple sites. The role is based in Cheadle and will be for an initial period of 2 years with the possibility (for the right candidate) of extension either via transition to project management of the operational phase of the 2 new centres or management of other UKB Projects. The two new centres are expected to be located in or around the Bristol and Birmingham areas and there is a strong desire for these to be operational by spring 2019. The role will include some travel and occasional overnight stays. This represents an exciting opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and conscientious individual with a can-do attitude tempered by a responsible attitude to risk management. The Organisation is a major national health resource set up with the aim of improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of serious and life-threatening illnesses. Between 2006 and 2010, the organization recruited over 500,000 volunteers from across the country to take part; all donated biological samples for future analysis, provided detailed information about themselves, and agreed to have their health followed. Enhancement projects are now underway to add further value to this valuable research resource. The organization was established with the backing of a number of major funding bodies and is a registered charity. Whilst we are physically headquartered in Cheadle, direction and strategy take input from senior academics and other experts from across the UK and around the world. The Imaging Project The Imaging Enhancement Project is the world’s large imaging study funded by the MRC, the Wellcome Trust and the British Heart Foundation with the aim of recruiting 100,000 participants. This pioneering health research is planned to be undertaken at 5 state of the art imaging centres; 2 of which are fully operational, 1 being operational in February 2018 and the further 2 sites being operational during 2019. We expect to complete the study in 2022, although there are plans for further repeat imaging to extend the life of the centres. To succeed in this role you will need to have the following skills, traits and knowledge gained from working in a business change/project management environment. Essential: • Proven & demonstrable success of project planning, implementation and management using recognised project management methodology • Experience of technical validation of systems and results. • Able to work in a collaborative and facilitating style with colleagues, suppliers and the organization stakeholders on all levels. • Must be an excellent communicator both spoken and written. • Excellent IT skills and literacy • Must have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks. • Sets and maintains high standards for self and others and actively monitor standards and takes necessary action to correct problems or issues. • Can work without appreciable day-to-day supervision and report on progress through both formal and informal channels. • Experience creating, maintaining and managing budgets and risk assessments • Be attentive to details and methodical in approach to work. • Excellent Influencing and negotiating skills • Ability to manage change and identify risks in a timely manner • Willingness to travel on a regular basis Desirable • PRINCE2 or another similar project management qualification • Experience managing construction or refit projects within a health based environment would be a distinct advantage • Experience of developing and implementing standard operating processes and procedures • Educating to relevant degree level This is a new opportunity for an enthusiastic, personable and approachable individual with strong communication skills and proven track record of project management.
